In the Bollywood film Raid, a senior tax officer, Amay Patnaik, investigates an influential man in Lucknow for money laundering. In a raid at his home, Patnaik finds gold and cash hidden inside walls, ceilings, and under the floor. A real-life incident similar to the movie unfolded this week in Rajasthan's Jaipur, where the Income Tax Department found a secret wall, hiding a strong room, filled with gold jewellery worth many crores.
According to a report by NDTV, the raid at Rajasthan's Kanha Group entered its third day on Friday. During the raid, the Income Tax Department recovered even more cash, gold and documents that suggest the company was allegedly hiding a lot of money to avoid paying taxes.
