A resident of Greater Noida has claimed that a section of her balcony ceiling collapsed in the middle of the night at her flat in Chi 5, triggering fresh concerns over construction quality in high-priced housing societies.
In a video shared on Instagram, the woman, identified as Sonam Singh, describes the ordeal. She said the collapse took place around 2:00 am while she was inside her room. Startled by a loud sound, she went to check her balcony and found large pieces of concrete scattered across the floor.
In the video, Singh showed how the fallen material could be easily crushed by hand, questioning the quality of construction in a flat priced at Rs 1 crore with a monthly rent of Rs 28,000.
Shaken by the incident, she said she often spends time standing on her balcony at night and could have been seriously injured. "Agar mai yaha raat ko khadi hoti, meri adat hai balcony mein khade hone ki. Is this safe? Ye de rahe hai 1 crore mai?" she said.

The video has since gone viral, prompting a wave of reactions online. One user wrote, "It was very risky, man!!! God saved you." Another commented, "1 crore k flat mein 10 rupee ka nimbu mirchi laga lo kirpa ani shuru hojayegi." A third user added, "It was very scary."

Several users also demanded that the resident reveal the name of the housing society.
The incident comes close on the heels of a similar case reported last month at the Royal West society in Greater Noida West, where falling plaster damaged a resident’s laptop and mobile phone. The resident narrowly escaped injury, further raising questions about maintenance and safety standards in high-rise apartments in the region.
