Gujarat Shocker: In a shocking incident in Gujarat, a man allegedly sold his wife for Rs 50,000 to get rid of her after 12 years of marriage. The police arrested the prime accused and six others as the woman was reportedly raped and sexually assaulted after being sold. The officials stated that the matter came into the light during the investigation for a missing person complaint filed earlier by her husband, reported the news agency PTI.

Jignesh Gamit, deputy superintendent of police, stated that the accused had approached police on May 11 and claimed that his wife suddenly went missing from Palanpur city. "Within two days of the complaint, the husband himself went missing, following which his father filed another missing person complaint at the Palanpur East police station. This sequence of events raised suspicion during the investigation," DSP Gamit was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
