Gwalior-Agra Expressway Update: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is in the process of building an 88-km-long Greenfield Expressway to connect Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior with Uttar Pradesh's Agra. Once completed, the e-way will significantly reduce the travel time between the two historic cities.
The e-way will pass through three states- UP, Rajasthan, and MP. For this, the NHAI has completed the process of land acquisition in Morena, Agra, and Dholpur. It will start from Nirawali Tiraha in Gwalior to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Agra.
An interchange will also be built near Kota to link it to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The construction of the Greenfield E-way is likely to start in November 2025 and be completed by 2028.

The Gwalior-Agra Expressway will have six lanes, and the construction work has been handed over to a company in Udaipur.
The land in 14 UP villages, 18 Rajasthan villages and 30 MP villages has been acquired. The construction company will also have to repair the National Highway 44 connecting Gwalior to Agra.
Currently, it takes nearly three hours to reach Gwalior from Agra and vice versa. After the completion of the project, this time will be slashed by half to 1.5 hours. The expressway is likely to be completed at a cost of Rs 4,612.65 crore.
The e-way will have 42 underpasses, eight big and 23 small bridges, five elevated viaducts, six flyovers, and one rail overbridge. The expressway will also have GPS-based toll and traffic management systems.
The expressway will pass through the Rajakheda area of Morena, 20 km away from Dholpur headquarters in Rajasthan. Four to five loops will be made every 20–25 km for entry and exit in Morena, Dholpur, and Agra. Out of these, one loop will be on NH-552 of Morena and the other on Rajakheda Road of Dholpur.
