Haryana Horror: A 42-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped near a deserted dhaba on Delhi-Rohtak Road after being followed by a group of five men. Police have arrested five accused in connection with the assault, while one suspect is still absconding.
The woman, who hails from Uttar Pradesh came to Haryana’s Bahadurgarh seeking a job. She was accompanied by her uncle. Both were travelling by a bus and had got down at Pandit Shree Ram Sharma metro station on Delhi Metro’s Green Line on January 12. As per the woman, her cousin arrived to pick them up on realising that the duo was being followed.
"By around 2.30 am, the men separated the woman from her uncle and cousin, intimidated them and took her to a deserted dhaba on Delhi-Rohtak Road, where they sexually assaulted her," a senior police officer said, as quoted by a Times of India report. The dhaba is around 100 metres from the metro station.
A complaint was lodged by the family following which an FIR was registered at the City police station in Bahadurgarh.
As per the TOI report, the woman did not reveal the sexual assault incident and only mentioned about her belongings being stolen. However, investigators were able to find out about the sexual assault through the CCTV footage from the dhaba.
The police managed to get hold of the suspects through UPI payment. Before carrying out the assault, the accused had bought liquor by paying Rs 100 through cash and Rs 30 via UPI.

Local CIA teams examined CCTV footage from the dhaba as well as nearby locations to trace the suspects’ movements. The swift analysis helped investigators reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the crime.
Within eight hours, police arrested four men who were originally from Bihar and currently living in rented accommodation in Bahadurgarh’s Chhotu Ramnagar area.
Emphasising a zero-tolerance approach, police said that strict action would be taken in cases of crimes against women, asserting that no offender would be allowed to escape punishment.
