Jagran correspondent, Kaithal: A chilling case of a suicide attempt by a 13-year-old girl and her grandmother has come to light from Haryana's Kaithal. The two consumed poison on August 22. While the girl succumbed during the treatment at a private hospital in Karnal on August 23, her grandmother was undergoing treatment.

The girl left behind a one-page suicide note addressed to her father. She mentioned that her mother had an extra-marital affair. "Papa, Abhishek and Mummy are having an illicit relationship. We are taking our own lives, but please punish Abhishek," the deceased pleaded in her suicide note.

Based on a complaint from the deceased's father, a resident of a colony in the Civil Lines police station area, a case has been registered against Abhishek, also a resident of the colony, under sections of abetment to suicide.

According to the complaint, he was married to a woman from Safidon in 2012. They had a son and a 13-year-old daughter. The daughter was a sixth-class student at a government school in the city. The man alleged that he works as a driver, and behind him the accused would take advantage of the opportunity to visit their home.

The daughter was aware of the illicit relationship between Abhishek and his wife. Both had threatened to kill her if she told anyone.

He alleged that on August 12, Abhishek was present with the woman when he arrived home. The matter escalated, and he assaulted her wife.

Later the same day, the woman left for her parents' home. The accused continued to threaten the daughter, which caused distress to her and her grandmother.

Troubled by this ongoing domestic dispute and Abhishek's threats, the grandmother and granddaughter went to Hanuman Vatika Park on the afternoon of August 22 and consumed poison.

Bystanders rushed to their help and admitted both of them to the civil hospital. The girl was referred to Karnal Kalpana Chawla Hospital and died the following day.

The woman is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. Inspector Ramesh Chand, in-charge of the Civil Lines police station, said that a case has been registered against Abhishek based on the complaint and an investigation has been initiated.
