Jagran Correspondent, Shahpur (Ara): Questions continue to mount over the alleged encounter of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, a resident of Bilauti village in Bhojpur district. While there are discussions about the circumstances leading up to and following the incident, sources suggest a 16-hour operation was carried out in the village. However, the police administration has yet to verify these claims.

What Led To The Incident?

According to local residents, on the evening of June 16, the Shahpur police station received a tip-off that Bharat Bhushan Tiwari was roaming in the village with a weapon. Acting on the information, the then-station chief Rajesh Kumar Malakar arrived at Tiwari's residence with a police force. A heated argument erupted between Tiwari and the police officers.

Video Emerged Showing Tiwari Holding A Pistol

A video surfaced showing Tiwari holding a pistol during the incident. According to a report by Jagran.com, the then-station chief initially attempted to defuse the tension, stating that the youth was under severe mental stress and required treatment.

However, after the video aired, the station chief was asked to explain, and action was intensified under the direct supervision of the Jagdishpur SDPO. Local residents claim that since the night of June 16, the activities of police and other security agencies have increased around the village, and a Special Task Force (STF) team also arrived at the Shahpur police station.

Tiwari's residence and surroundings were kept under strict surveillance throughout the night. According to villagers, police cordoned off the main entrance of his house at around 4 AM on June 17. He then climbed onto the roof and continued to argue with the officers, who were monitoring his movements.

Facebook Live, Surrender Claims Fuel Controversy

According to eyewitnesses, a lengthy and tense discussion took place between the police and Tiwari in the village field, during which he went live on Facebook. Relatives and several local residents allege that during this standoff, Tiwari repeatedly offered to surrender and even threw his weapon.

The police, on the other hand, said that Tiwari opened fire during the operation, forcing them to retaliate in self-defence. This remains the most controversial aspect of the entire case.
