IMD Weather Update: A severe cold wave continues to tighten its grip, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an alert for dense to very dense fog and cold day conditions across the northern plains and parts of central and eastern India.

The Meteorological Department has also forecast light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by snowfall, in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh over the coming days.

Dense Fog Alert For THESE States

The weather department has issued a weather warning as dense to very dense fog is expected to blanket large parts of the country during the night and early morning hours throughout this week.

According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh are expected to experience dense to very dense fog conditions until December 29, while Uttarakhand is likely to experience these conditions until December 28.

Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal are under alert until December 25, while Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh are affected till December 24.

Additionally, dense fog is forecasted for Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, and Odisha until December 28, and across Northeast India until December 26. Bihar is expected to see fog in two phases: initially until December 25, and again from December 26 to 28.

Cold Wave Warning For Uttar Pradesh, Bihar

Isolated parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand continue to struggle with severe cold day conditions, prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue a cold wave warning across the northern states.

According to the latest forecast, cold day conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh on December 24, and over Bihar from December 24 to 28.

Snowfall In Jammu And Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh

The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall or snowfall in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad from December 27 to 29. Similar conditions are expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on December 28 and 29.
