As dense fog condition grips north India, more than 500 flights were delayed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Monday due to low visibility.

Apart from massive delays, at least 14 flights were also cancelled at the Delhi airport. Speaking about the flight operations disruptions, an official said that 14 flights, including 6 arrivals and 8 departures, were cancelled.

The international flights were also affected due to fog conditions. Similar conditions have been persisting since past few days. Dense fog has been disrupting operations at various airports for the past several days.

According to the information available on the flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, the average flight delay time for over 500 flights was a little over 30 minutes.

Earlier on Sunday, a total of 110 flights were cancelled and over 370 services were delayed due to low-visibility conditions amid fog at the Delhi airport.

An official of the Delhi Airport said that 59 arrivals and 51 departures were cancelled at the IGI Airport.

News agency PTI cited information available on flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, saying that more than 370 flights were delayed and the average delay time was around 26 minutes for departures at the airport.

In a post on X on Sunday evening, Delhi airport operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said operations were running smoothly. 

DIAL operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), the country's largest airport, which generally handles around 1,300 flights daily.

The fog conditions are likely to persist in the national capital as snowfall in the higher reaches of the Himalayas will intensify winter chills.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 21.8 degrees Celsius, 1.1 notches above normal on Monday, and a minimum temperature of 11.0 degrees Celsius, 3.5 degrees above normal.

The IMD had forecast a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, and a maximum of 22 degrees Celsius, accompanied by moderate fog.
