NDRF official Rajinder Singh on Friday said that 1180 people have been rescued from the flood-prone areas. Four teams of NDRF have been deployed as part of the arrangement amid the overflowing Yamuna River. 

After significant water was released from the Okhla and Hathnikund Barrages, several areas in Noida were flooded and people were shifted to relief camps. The affected areas include over 150 neighbourhoods along the Yamuna and Pusta, specifically sectors 133, 134, 135, and 168, Jagran.com reported.

The Kashmir valley was cut off from the rest of the country as all surface links, including the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, were closed for traffic on Thursday due to multiple landslides and the washing away of road patches due to rain, news agency PTI reported.

"The death toll in the devastating floods in Punjab rose to 43 on Thursday, while crops on 1.71 lakh hectares of land were damaged," news agency PTI reported. 

The rivers in Odisha are in spate and continue to rise following heavy downpour on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain even as the well-marked low-pressure system moved to Chhattisgarh.

"Fifty houses were damaged due to the sinking of land in twin mountainous hamlets of Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, prompting authorities to evacuate villagers to safer places," news agency PTI quoted an official as saying.

A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall destroyed several houses in Wards Numbers 6 and 7 of Sulghar Panchayat in Jammu-Kashmir. 

"Incessant and torrential rains battered the northern states on Thursday, with Himachal Pradesh reeling under the natural disaster ever since the onset of monsoon and Delhi getting impacted due to the rising water levels of the Yamuna river," news agency PTI reported. 

Following an orange alert for rain and thunderstorms in the national capital on Thursday, the Yamuna River water levels continued to rise. 

Ongoing heavy rainfall in Punjab has caused the Ghaggar River to overflow and flood several parts of the districts.

Ongoing heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has led to a steady rise in the water level of Govind Sagar Lake, which feeds the Bhakra Dam. As a result, the dam is now just one foot below the danger level. In response, authorities have opened the floodgates by ten feet each. Additionally, the water discharge from the Nangal Dam into the Sutlej River has been increased by 10,000 cusecs, bringing the total outflow to 67,000 cusecs at present.

On Thursday, the Hathni Kund Barrage released 1,34,563 cusecs of water. Additionally, the Wazirabad Barrage and Okhla Barrage discharged 1,93,090 cusecs and 2,44,478 cusecs of water, respectively.

Moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-50 km/h) is likely at several Delhi spots including Akshardham, Nehru Stadium, Vasant Vihar, R K Puram, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, and Vasant Kunj.

The water level of Yamuna at Delhi's Old Railway Bridge remained at 207.46 metres between 11 am and 12 noon on Thursday, officials said, as per PTI. They added that the level is expected to begin receding gradually, though floodwaters continue to inundate nearby areas and relief camps. At 11 am, the water level stood at 207.46 metres.

While inspecting the flood-affected areas, he met the people affected by the flood in the area and listened to their grievances. The Union Minister also inspected the crops damaged by waterlogging due to continuous heavy rains and talked to farmers.

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remained closed on Thursday after damage caused by landslides and recent heavy rainfall. NH-44 acts as a critical link to the Kashmir Valley. Operation to clear the debris and reopen the route is underway.

Meanwhile, floods across the Jammu division wreaked havoc over the last 24 hours; however, with no rainfall, the water level in rivers of Kashmir started receding on Thursday morning.

"On 2 September, our team was deployed, and till yesterday, we have rescued 171 people. Continuously, we are making announcements and also taking the help of the police. The level of water is no longer rising. NDRF is working in full form. As soon as any information is received, it immediately reaches that place and rescues people," NDRF Inspector Man Pyare said.

The overflowing Yamuna River has inundated the Madanpur Khadar area near the Kalindi Kunj barrage. NDRF teams have been deployed to evacuate people to relief camps and safer locations. 

Supreme Court on Thursday issued notice to the Centre and states on a petition relating to the floods and rains in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. Supreme Court expressed serious concern about the rains and floods and says there is illegal felling of trees in the hills.

Yamuna floodwater caused massive traffic jams in several key stretches of Delhi on Thursday, bringing vehicular movement to a crawl at multiple points, including Kashmere Gate, Ring Road, Outer Ring Road and the Kalindi Kunj area, PTI reported. The sudden inundation disrupted morning rush-hour traffic, leaving commuters stuck for long hours. Several people took to social media and reported bumper-to-bumper traffic, saying that even short distances like two kilometres were taking hours to cover. 

"Official Announcement District Administration Budgam In the early hours a breach occurred in the River Jhelum bund near village Zoonipora, Budgam, resulting in inundation of nearby areas. Consequently, villages Shalina, Rakh Shalina, and Baghi Shakirshah have come under water. Residents of these villages were safely evacuated during the night to designated rescue centers and safer locations. There remains apprehension of inundation in Seerbagh and Summerbugh villages of Budgam, and our teams are actively engaged in relocating people from these areas to safety. People of these areas are request to move to safer areas till the water level recedes," J&K CM Omar Abdullah posted on X.

DMRC on Thursday informed that the approach road leading to Yamuna Bank Metro Station is currently inaccessible, due to the escalating water levels of the Yamuna River. The station is operational and interchange facility is available.

The Jammu-Katra shuttle train service, which was started to facilitate the movement of locals and stranded passengers, was suspended for the second day on Thursday in the wake of floods and landslides. Heavy rains triggered landslides blocking the portal of tunnel number 16 on the rail track between Ramnagar and Manwal in the Jammu-Udhampur section.

A series of landslides was triggered in the Gandoh-Bhalessa Sub-Division due to incessant rainfall, affecting connectivity in the region.Meanwhile, the rain activity continues in the Bhaderwah region of the Doda for the third consecutive day.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a red alert of "heavy rain" for Doda, along with Rajouri, Reasi, Jammu, Udhampur, Ramban and Kishtwar districts. The orange alert of heavy rain has been issued for Samba, Kathua, Budgam, Shopian, Kulgam, Bandipora, Baramulla, Pulwama and Ganderbal. The yellow alerts have been issued for Anantnag, Srinagar and Kupwara districts for Thursday.

Severe waterlogging, traffic snarls were witnessed as water from the overflowing Yamuna river enters parts of Delhi. In Delhi's Civil Lines area, vehicles were submerged, and buildings were flooded on Bela Road.

Search and rescue operations are underway as landslide hits Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district. Several people are feared trapped. "People are trapped as two houses have collapsed. Six people are still trapped. Three people have been rescued and have been admitted to the hospital. One person has died," Kullu DC Torul S. Ravish said, as per ANI.

The water level in Yamuna river at Delhi's Old Railway Bridge stood at 207.48 metres at 7 am on Thursday, even as floodwater from the raging river continued to inundate nearby areas. According to official data, the level remained steady between 6 am and 7 am at 207.48 metres. While the level at 5 am stood at 207.47 metres, it stood at 207.48 metres at 6 am. According to officials, the water level remained static at 207.47 metres between 2 am and 5 am. 

Areas including relief camps in Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Yamuna Bazar, Geeta Colony, Majnu Ka Tila, Kashmiri Gate, Garhi Mandu, and Mayur Vihar were flooded. Most of these places have a mix of commercial and residential buildings.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit the flood-affected districts in Punjab on Thursday. During this visit, he will meet the Punjab Governor, Gulab Chand Kataria, and the Agriculture Minister of Punjab, Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, at Amritsar Airport and then leave for the flood-affected areas of the state. Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar districts remain the worst-affected districts.
