The railway administration has stepped up preparations for the inauguration of India's first hydrogen-powered train ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Jind on July 17.

On Tuesday, a team from the Special Protection Group (SPG), along with Delhi Division Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Sanjeev Kumar Sinha, visited Jind Railway Junction to review the arrangements. The SPG also inspected the railway station and the helipad at Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU).

Railways Reviews Preparations

While attending the review meeting, the ADRM directed the officials to finalise all the work according to the deadlines. He asked all departments to focus on their pending work of station cleanliness, passenger facilities, platforms management, security, entry and exit points, parking and VIP movement.

After spending around 10 days at Shakur Basti for inspection and testing, the hydrogen train returned to Jind Junction on Tuesday and arrived at Platform No. 1.

The train is expected to be decorated with flowers before its inauguration. Officials also carried out door-to-door verification of residents and tenants along the Prime Minister's proposed route as part of security arrangements.

High-Speed Trials Completed

The train will initially run at a speed of 75 kmph on the Jind-Sonipat stretch, as per the authorities, although its maximum operating speed will be between 110 kmph and 140 kmph.

The train has undergone high-speed trials at 100-120 kmph on multiple routes, including Jind-Rohtak, Jind-Kilajafargarh, Delhi Sabzi Mandi-Sonipat, Delhi-Shakur Basti, Jind-Kharanti and Bahadurgarh.

Haryana Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr Krishna Midha visited the railway junction after learning about the train's arrival. He boarded the locomotive, interacted with the driver and took selfies with the hydrogen train. Several BJP workers and supporters were also present.

Security Tightened Ahead Of PM Visit

Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Rajesh Khullar also inspected the rally ground and asked the authorities to make arrangements for drinking water, fans and coolers and parking in the ground.

Heavy security has been deployed at the venue prior to the Prime Minister's visit and in view of the anticipated visit.

Traffic Restrictions On July 17

Police officials also informed that after 8 am on July 17, the road connecting the Police Line to the Jind Railway Station, a stretch of approximately eight kilometres, will be kept closed to vehicular traffic.

Officials said no hotel bookings, online or offline, will be permitted on the day. Meanwhile, landscaping work is underway at the railway station, with special plants and grass brought from Saharanpur to beautify the premises, including Vande Bharat Park.

Former MP Dr Sudha Yadav, a member of the BJP Parliamentary Board and Central Election Committee, also visited Jind and described the hydrogen train as a symbol of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and India's commitment to green transportation.
