IndiGo Flight Status Live Updates: Airline Gets Entension Till 6 PM Tomorrow To Respond To DGCA's Notice

India’s largest carrier, IndiGo, cancelled more than 650 flights on Sunday even as its operations began to stabilise. The number of cancellations has now started to decline and the airline has issued ticket refunds worth Rs 610 crore to passengers impacted by the disruptions.

IndiGo Flight Status Live Update: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Sunday granted IndiGo CEO an extension to submit its response to the show-cause notice over massive disruptions by 6 PM on Monday. "After reviewing the request, DGCA has extended the deadline only until 1800 hrs on 08 December 2025, with a clear direction that no further extensions will be permitted,” the DGCA said.

Inadequate crew planning during the rollout of the revised Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms has emerged as a major factor behind the disruptions. The airline has also clarified that there is no hiring freeze and that its pilot strength is adequate, though it lacks a large standby pool. Meanwhile, other domestic carriers continue to operate without major issues.

IndiGo Flight Status Live Updates: After IndiGo CEO sought an extention to reply to DGCA notice regarding flight disruption, the aviation regulatory body granted an extention till Monday 6 PM.

Kolkata Airport saw major disruption on Sunday as IndiGo cancelled 76 flights, airport officials confirmed. The cancellations affected 53 outgoing flights and 23 incoming services. The airline had initially scheduled 129 departures and 97 arrivals for the day, according to an update shared on the airport’s X account.

IndiGo has said it will conduct a detailed “root cause analysis” to identify what led to the recent wave of flight disruptions. A senior airline official told PTI that the carrier has an adequate number of pilots, though it does not have the advantage of a large backup pool. The official also clarified that the airline has not imposed any hiring freeze, dismissing speculation that a lean operational model may have contributed to the ongoing issues.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has taken rapid and decisive steps to address the disruption caused by the recent IndiGo operational crisis and to ensure that passengers do not face continued inconvenience, according to a MoCA press release.

Air travel operations across the country are stabilising at a fast pace. All other domestic airlines are operating smoothly and at full capacity, while IndiGo's performance has shown steady improvement today, with flight schedules moving back towards normal levels. IndiGo's flight operations have increased from 706 on December 5 to 1,565 on December 6 and are likely to reach up to 1,650 by the end of today, the statement added.

Congress leader Pawan Khera on Sunday said that the flight disruptions that left passengers stranded across major airports in the country were not only the failure of IndiGo alone, but also the centre's because it allowed the airline to establish a monopoly in the market.

Speaking to ANI, Khera said that IndiGo donated electoral bonds worth Rs 50 crore to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and claimed that no action will be taken on the airline until the Modi government remains in power.

 IndiGo on Sunday said it is on track to stabilise its network by December 10, reporting significant improvements in flight operations following days of large-scale disruptions, which led to flight delays and cancellations, leaving passengers facing significant inconvenience, with some stranded at the airport for hours.

Rajasthan's peak tourism season has taken a hit as the ongoing IndiGo flight crisis disrupted travel schedules, slowed visitor inflow, and affected hotels and travel operators across key destinations, industry stakeholders said on Sunday.
The crisis, which has led to large-scale flight cancellations and delays across the country, comes at a crucial moment for Rajasthan's tourism sector.

The winter travel season, considered the most lucrative period for the state, began two months ago and typically reaches its peak in December.

Major disruptions continued on Sunday at Ahmedabad Airport, where 21 flights, including 12 arrivals and 9 departures of IndiGo Airlines, were cancelled.

According to the Airport, till 2 pm today, a total of 62 flights, including 27 arrivals and 35 departures, were operated at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

According to News agency PTI, IndiGo airlines operated 1,500 flights on Saturday, while 800 were cancelled.

Around 76 IndiGo flights were cancelled at the N S C Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Sunday, PTI reported.

The disruption at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport showed no signs of easing on Sunday, with IndiGo cancelling 24 more flights by afternoon.

Most of the cancelled flights were scheduled between 6 am–11 am and 3:30 pm–7:30 pm. Only eight IndiGo flights managed to operate on time during the day.

According to SpiceJet’s latest notification:

- The Delhi–Patna flight will now depart at 7:00 pm.

- The return flight from Patna to Delhi will take off at 10:00 pm.

After 10 IndiGo flights were suspended at the Patna Airport on Sunday, December 7, another airline, SpiceJet, came to the rescue and announced additional service on the Delhi-Patna route.

In one of the statements issued by the airline today, a communique highlighted the progress towards normalisation of services as it claimed that the airline is on track to operate over 1600 flights on Sunday, December 7.

“Refund and Luggage process in full action, both for direct bookings and indirect bookings,” the airline said.

As the Operational crisis of India's largest airline, IndiGo, continues, the airline said that it expects normalisation of services by December 10 in its latest statement. Earlier, IndiGo claimed to have restored 95 per cent of services.

Among several majorly hit airports across the country, Chennai airport witnessed the cancellation of 38 departure flights.

IndiGo Flights Cancelled Live: In a fresh statement issued on Sunday, an IndiGo spokesperson said,  “This Group has been meeting regularly to monitor the situation and is being constantly updated by the Management of the measures being undertaken to restore normal operations. In addition, there have been multiple telephonic discussions, including with Directors who are not members of the CMG.”

As per a report by New18, 109 IndiGo flights have been cancelled at Delhi Airport on Sunday. Of these, 59 are departure flights and 50 are arrival flights.

Among over 300 IndiGo flights cancelled across the country on Sunday, December 7, 112 flights were cancelled at Mumbai Airport, which included 56 departing flights and 56 arrival flights.

A passenger from Kolkata, Arnav says, "My flight today has been cancelled. I got the information last evening itself. I had a flight to Kolkata today at 7.20 am. I came here to check about the availability of flights. IndiGo operations are almost shut. If I go to other counters like Air India, Akasa - they have limited flights and they are really costly. It's not affordable. I got a flight for tomorrow. I am figuring out my stay here. So, it is becoming a little tough. I also had to take a leave at my office...Several passengers are facing a similar problem..."

Following the massive IndiGo flight operational crisis, Chandigarh airport is set to come up with a strategy to reduce inconvenience and chaos as several agencies plan to hold a meeting at the airport today, December 7. Officials from the Punjab Aviation Department, Chandigarh Airport Authority (CHIAL), CSIF, and IndiGo will attend the meeting after three IndiGo flights were cancelled from Chandigarh Airport earlier today. 

The new norms cover rest periods, definitions of night flying, overnight workloads, and controls on cumulative pilot fatigue.

Pilots must now receive at least 48 hours of rest per week, increasing to 60 hours if they operate more than three night duties within seven days.

The definition of night flying has been expanded to 12 midnight to 6 AM, up from the earlier 5 AM.

Only two consecutive night shifts are generally allowed before additional rest becomes mandatory.

Flight Duty Time Limitations or FDTL are regulations that set the maximum hours a pilot can be on duty, the minimum rest periods they must take, and the number of overnight flights an airline can schedule.

IndiGo flights to several Indian cities, like Patna, Dehradun, from Delhi were cancelled at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation stepped in on Saturday to ensure fair air ticket prices and directed IndiGo to clear all pending passenger refunds by 8 pm on December 7. It also directed IndiGo to trace and deliver passengers’ baggage to their homes or chosen addresses within the next 48 hours.

IndiGo flights 6E 6165 (ETD 0945 hrs) and 6E 478 (ETD 1440 hrs) from Srinagar to Amritsar are cancelled on Sunday. 

With 115 IndiGo services suspended for the day, the IndiGo operational crisis at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) continued on Sunday.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has formed a four-member committee to review the disruptions, following days-long operational crisis.
