The officials stated that a missile was intercepted in Jalandhar near Indian Oil Depot, adding that Red alert has been issued in the district.

"Everyone is directed to go to their house. There is a high red alert in the district. Don't go out in markets or public places," Barmer District Collector Tina Dabi was quoted as saying by ANI. 

Gujarat's Kachchh Police stated that projectile debris has been retrieved from the region.

Pakistan Rangers initiated unprovoked firing on Border Security Force (BSF) posts along the International Border in the Jammu sector late Friday night, reported ANI. 

The terrorist launch pad at Looni, district Sialkot, Pakistan, opposite Akhnoor area, was completely destroyed by the BSF, reported ANI.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir and offered him the US assitance to start talks with India amid escalated tension.

The reports suggest that the siren has been sounded in Jalandhar, Bathinda and Amritsar. The officials have reportedly asked the people to limit their outings.

The defence officials stated that the news reports of destruction or damage to an S-400 system are fake and baseless.

Pakistan has closed its airspace for all kinds of traffic after India launched retaliatory strikes in the wake of Islamabad‘s unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) and drone attacks in the last three days.

In retaliation for Pakistan's strikes targeted at residential areas close to the border, India has attacked its air force stations in Shorkot, Nur Khan And Murid.  

The Delhi airport issued an advisory, saying its operations were functioning normally at present. However, some flight schedules might be impacted, and security checkpoint processing times could be longer due to changing airspace conditions and increased security measures as per orders from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

Jaisalmer police on Friday arrested nine people for engaging in "suspicious activity" near strategically important places, security-wise, in Sadar, Kotwali and Pokaran Police Station areas.

One of them is under interrogation by various agencies, police said.

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Friday approved two packages worth $2.3 billion, including a new $1.3 billion programme to Pakistan. The global lender approved the $ 1 billion worth second loan tranche of the Extended Fund Facility and sanctioned new $1.3 billion Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). India has abstained from voting on the IMF's proposed bailout package for Pakistan, citing Islamabad’s "poor track record".

An attempt was made to target the BSF camp in Patti town from Pakistan. Around 20-25 explosions occurred in the sky over approximately two and a half minutes. It is said that on the third day of continuous attacks from Pakistan, Tarn Taran district was targeted for the first time. The Indian Army successfully thwarted this attempt to target the BSF camp. Following the attack, Tarn Taran district was completely blacked out.

A blackout was enforced across the Kashmir Valley, including its summer capital here, late Friday evening, and sirens were heard at a few places. The blackout was enforced after attacks in Jammu, which sent the locals rushing to their homes in panick. Police have asked people to stay home and switch off all lights.

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday postponed the Pakistan Super League (PSL), hours after announcing that the T20 tournament has been shifted to the UAE because of the ongoing military conflict with India.  "The decision to postpone has been taken pursuant to advice received from the Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif who has kept in view the "reckless aggression" from India that has escalated to a point where national attention and sentiments are rightly focused on the courageous efforts of the Armed Forces of Pakistan who are vociferously upholding the sovereignty of our beloved Pakistan," PCB said in a statement said.

"The PCB and its players stand resolutely in solidarity with the families of the martyrs and our security personnel defending the nation," the statement added further. However it has been learnt that Emirates Cricket Board, which holds a cordial relationship with BCCI, was unlikely to approve the PCB request to host the remainder of the PSL.

Explosions can be heard as India's air defence intercepts Pakistani drones amid blackout in Akhnoor, Rajauri and Pathankot.

Panic gripped Amritsar as 15 to 20 loud explosions echoed through the city, terrifying residents. The sounds, which ceased shortly after, prompted heightened alertness.

Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah issued an urgent appeal, urging residents in and around Jammu to stay indoors and avoid rumours amid rising tensions. "Stay home, ignore unverified stories, and we'll get through this together," he said. 

At 8:45 PM, Pathankot's night sky lit up with gunfire as Indian defences targeted Pakistani drones. Explosions rocked the city, and sirens blared non-stop.

Jammu shuddered under a blackout as explosions heard at multiple locations. India's air defense systems sprang into action, downing Pakistani drones invading the skies over Jammu, Poonch, and Samba.

In Samba, a tense blackout gripped the night as explosions echoed through the border town. India's air defence systems roared to life, intercepting Pakistani drones breaching the airspace. The sky lit up with flashes, each blast a defiant stand against intrusion.

In response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, a high alert was declared across Rajasthan's border districts of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, and Phalodi on Friday. As a precautionary measure, markets in Jaisalmer and Barmer closed early, at 5 pm, and a complete blackout has been imposed from 6 pm to 6 am.

In Ambala, Haryana, a blackout from 8 pm to 6 am was enforced, while in Panchkula, markets and street lights has been shut down from 7 pm till 6 am.

India Pakistan Conflict Live Updates: Pakistani Army resumed firing on Friday evening in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri and Poonch.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a key meeting with the chiefs of the three Armed Forces. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also attended the meet. The meet was held amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri says, "These provocative and escalatory actions taken by Pakistan last night were targeted at Indian cities and civilian infrastructure in addition to military establishments. Indian armed forces responded proportionately, adequately, and responsibly. The official and blatantly farsical denial of these attacks that Pakistan carried out, by the Pakistani state machinery is another example of their duplicity and the new depths, they are plumbing to."

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh says, "In response to the Pakistani attack, armed drones were launched at four air defence sites in Pakistan. One of the drones was able to destroy an AD radar. Pakistan also carried out artillery shelling across the line of control using heavy-calibre artillery guns and armed drones... which resulted in some losses and injuries to Indian army personnel. Pakistan army also suffered major losses in Indian retaliatory fire."

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh says, "Pakistan did not close its civil airspace despite it launching a failed unprovoked drone and missile attack on 7 May at 08:30 hours in the evening. Pakistan is using civil airliner as a shield, knowing fully well that its attack on India would elicit a swift air defence response. This is not safe for the unsuspecting civil airliners including the international flights which were flying near IB between India and Pakistan. The screenshot we just showed, it shows the data of the application flight radar 24 during a high air defence alert situation in the Punjab sector. As you have seen, the airspace on the Indian side is absolutely devoid of civil air traffic due to our declared closure. However, there are civil airlines flying the air route between Karachi and Lahore...Indian Air force demonstrated considerable restraint in its response thus ensuring safety of international civil carriers."

Delhi: Colonel Sofiya Qureshi says, "On the night of May 7 and 8, the Pakistani army violated Indian airspace several times over the entire western border with the intention of targeting military infrastructure. Not only this, the Pakistani army also fired heavy caliber weapons along the Line of Control. Around 300 to 400 drones were used to attempt infiltration at 36 locations. The Indian armed forces shot down many of these drones using kinetic and non-kinetic means. The possible purpose of such large-scale aerial intrusions was to test air defence systems and collect intelligence. Forensic investigation of the wreckage of the drones is being done. Initial reports suggest that they are Turkish Asisguard Songar drones"

Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reviewed the prevailing situation along India's border with Pakistan and airports in the country amid the military conflict between the two countries, sources said. The meeting came hours after the Border Security Force said it has foiled an infiltration bid from across the International Border in Jammu, killing at least seven terrorists and destroying a Pakistan Rangers post.

Apart from reviewing the security situation along the India-Pakistan border, Shah also took stock of the steps taken to beef up security at airports across the country, the sources said. While the BSF guards the India-Pakistan border, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) protects the airports in the country, Metro networks and other vital installations.

Those who attended the meeting included Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Directors General of the BSF, CISF and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. There has been heightened tension between India and Pakistan following India's strike on multiple locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday and Pakistan's attempts to hit Indian military sites on Thursday, which were thwarted by the Indian armed forces.

Past incidents like the #KargilWar, 26/11 attacks, and the #Kandahar hijacking underscore the risks of premature reporting," ministry of defence posted on X.

"As per clause 6(1)(p) of the Cable Television Networks (Amendment) Rules, 2021, only periodic briefings by designated officials are permitted during anti-terror operations. All stakeholders are urged to exercise vigilance, sensitivity, and responsibility in coverage, upholding the highest standards in the service of the nation,” it added.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday conducted a review of the country's current security situation at South Block, which houses the Ministry of Defence, in the national capital, in the aftermath of the foiled large-scale drone strike by Pakistan on Thursday.

The Defence Minister was accompanied by the military top brass and senior officials, including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and Defence Secretary RK Singh.

The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) on Friday indefinitely suspended the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) due to the escalating military confrontation between India and Pakistan. A cloud of uncertainty had loomed over the future of the ongoing edition since the cancellation of Thursday's match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala midway following air raid alerts in neighbouring cities of Jammu and Pathankot.

"It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war," a BCCI official told PTI, confirming the suspension of the high-profile league, which was to wind up on May 25 in Kolkata.

The Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Friday appealed to passengers to reach the airport at least three hours prior to the scheduled departure of flights. In a passenger advisory, the KIA mentioned the heightened security reason behind the new directive.

"In view of the nationwide heightened security alert, enhanced screening measures are in place across all airports. Passengers are advised to arrive at least three hours prior to departure to allow for a smooth check-in, security and boarding experience," the advisory said.

Police and the Army conduct a search operation in the Pathankot area after the military station in the city was targeted by Pakistani-origin drones last night. According to the Defence Ministry, the threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities.

The Punjab University, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Punjab and the Thapar University have cancelled all scheduled classes in the wake of the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. Thapar University has asked its students to leave the hostel and return home.

The Uttarakhand government has instructed all hospitals in the state to remain on high alert. Leaves of doctors and staff in hospitals have been cancelled. Following the instructions of the Central Health Ministry, Uttarakhand Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar has issued necessary guidelines and instructed the state to mark 12000 beds in all the hospitals and keep all ICUs and ventilators ready.

The meeting specially focussed on the border districts. Pakistani drones were intercepted by the Indian air defense in Jaisalmer yesterday. Bikaner was also under blackout.

The Union Territory of Chandigarh is on high alert day after Pakistan launched a massive drone attack in border states of India, including Jammu, Punjab and Rajasthan. The residents of Chandigarh have been alerted to the ongoing threat and asked to remain indoors. Sirens blare through the city, warning citizens to stay inside their homes.

A resident of a border village in J&K says, "After we closed our shop last night, shelling started. This morning I saw that my shop is completely damaged. This is like target killing of civilians."

Pakistan attempts to evade responsibility after Thursday's failed drone attack. The Foreign Office of Pakistan says the government rejects the "baseless and irresponsible allegations" of attacks on Pathankot, Jaisalmer and Srinagar. "These claims are entirely unfounded, politically motivated and part of a reckless propaganda campaign aimed at maligning Pakistan," it says.

All schools in Ladakh are to remain closed on May 9 and 10 as India faces attack from Pakistan, which sent a swarm of drones into the Indian territory on Thursday evening and continues to shell border areas in Jammu and Kashmir.

Civilian houses, vehicles and other properties in Jammu and Kashmir suffer damages as Pakistan continues to shell the border areas.

The Indian Army says Pakistani troops resorted to numerous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir soon after their drone attacks were effectively repulsed. The Indian side gave a befitting reply to the attack.

Jammu and Kashmir: A vehicle travelling from Razerwani to Baramulla was hit by a shell fired by Pakistan from across the Line Of Control (LoC) near Mohura, news agency IANS reports. A woman, identified as Nargis Begum, was killed while another woman, Hafeeza Begum was injured.

In view of the ongoing blackout in Chandigarh and heightened tensions along the border, the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association has declared May 9, 2025, a 'No Work Day'. The decision was announced through an official notice issued late Thursday night by the association's secretary.

The Indian Army and Air defence units intercepted and neutralised over 50 drones sent by Pakistan across the Line of Control (LoC) and International Borders (IB) on Thursday evening. The Indian side foiled Pakistan's attempt to attack several cities, including Jammu, Akhnoor, Udhampur, Samba, Pathankot, Amritsar and Jaisalmer. India launched a large-scale counter-drone operation, deploying L-70 guns, Zu-23mm, Schilka systems, and other advanced counter-UAS equipment, news agency ANI reports citing sources.

The Amritsar District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) directs all citizens to stay indoors and away from the windows and keep lights turned off and the window curtains drawn. The DPRO assures Amritsar residents that there is no need to panic. "Our armed forces are on the job, and we need to support them by staying indoors. There is no need to panic," it says.

The tension between India and Pakistan last night also affected railway services. The Anand Vihar Terminal–Kotdwar train, which departed on time, reached Kotdwar station at 5:35 AM, delayed by nearly two and a half hours. The delay occurred as the train was halted at Meerut station for approximately three hours. It was eventually cleared to proceed to Kotdwar around 1:45 AM.

Pakistan Army resorted to mortar shelling in civilian areas of Jammu and Kashmir early in the morning.  

There was a blackout in Tarn Taran district of Punjab at night, and electricity was restored at 5:00 AM. The situation remained peaceful in Khemkaran sector, Khalda, Naushera Dhala. 

Fazilka in Punjab was under blackout the whole night amid drone attacks by Pakistan. The electricity was cut off at 9 PM and restored at 6:15 AM. Police patrolling teams went from street to street to ensure lights running on inverters or back up were switched off. No untoward incident of any kind was reported at night in Fazilka district.

The Ministry of Defence posts on X, "Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir today. The threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). No casualties or material losses were reported."

The ministry assured the people that India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people.

Jalandhar Rural DSP Vijay Kumar says, "We received information that the people had heard some noise. We came here but found nothing. We request that people stay away from rumours. Dont touch anything that may seem suspicious and inform the police about it. We request that people stay inside their homes and not panic; our army is capable of everything."

A Pakistani Air Force jet has been shot down in the Pathankot sector by Indian air defence, news agency ANI reports citing multiple sources. Official government confirmation awaited.
