Srinagar: A Lashkar-e-Taiba was killed in an encounter in the Saidapora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Wednesday. The operation, which concluded after five days, also led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition from the site.
According to a report by Jagran.com, gunfire was heard from the operation site, to which the security forces responded strongly. Following the exchange of fire, officials recovered the body of a terrorist from the scene, who has been identified as a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Weapons and ammunition were also found a short distance away from the scene.
The five-day operation began on Saturday. The army cordoned off the area and initiated a search for the terrorists in the jungle. According to an official, the operation is ongoing, and further details will be released once the area is fully secured.

Terrorists Spotted On Camera; Four Villages Evacuated
Following information of two local Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists hiding in the forests of Shopian district, a joint search operation was launched. The terrorists were initially spotted via surveillance cameras in a local orchard. Yesterday, a joint team of the Army, Police, and CRPF cordoned off the area and evacuated residents from four nearby villages.
The terrorists trapped by security forces have been identified as Latif and Zakir, both residents of South Kashmir's Kulgam district. According to the report, the exchange of fire began when the terrorists fired at approaching army personnel, prompting a retaliation. Additional troops from the Army's special counter-insurgency unit, 'Victor Force', have been deployed at the site.

'You Can Run, But You Can't Hide'
Confirming the success of the five-day operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said, "You can run, but you cannot hide".
The operation to neutralise the terrorists was conducted jointly by the J&K Police, Rashtriya Rifles, and the CRPF.
