Jagran Correspondent | Jammu: In a disturbing incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her school headmaster and got pregnant. The minor reportedly died while receiving treatment. The accused has been identified as Khalid Hussain. Villagers say that the teenager died while she was forced to abort the child illegally and died in the process.
How Did The Incident Come To Light?
Around 10 days ago, the girl’s heath started to deteriorate, when the family took her to the hospital, it was revealed that she was pregnant. Relatives said the student's family took her first to Kishtwar and then to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Doda for an abortion. However, the abprtion failed twice and the girl died on her way to Katot. her condition worsened and she died. During the post-mortem, doctors removed a four-month-old fetus from her womb.

Following the incident, a large number of people and students gathered in Chhatru and protested, demanding action against the accused teacher. Local business organizations have called for a closure of establishments in Chhatru and Mughal Maidan on Saturday. Seeing the controversy escalate, the police registered a case and arrested the teacher, Hussain.
Omar Abdullah Reacts
Reacting to the incident, CM Omar Abdullah said, “I know this is a very tragic incident. We hope that the administration, especially those responsible for law and order, will take action as soon as possible. The investigation into the case should be completed quickly and necessary action should be taken based on it. “
In a separate case, a madrasa cleric, Nasir Majeed, was accused of raping a minor in Doda. In this case, too, a case was registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and he was arrested.
