A woman was brutally attacked with boiling oil on Sunday after she resisted an alleged molestation attempt by two youths in Gadi village under Leda Panchayat in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, police officials said on Monday. Of the two accused, one has been arrested while the other is on the run.
The victim sustained severe burn injuries to her hands and legs and was rushed to Sadar Hospital. According to reports, the woman’s husband is physically disabled, and she runs a small fast-food stall in the village to support her family.

How The Incident Unflode
According to police officials, the incident occurred on Sunday evening when several youths arrived at the woman’s stall and allegedly began misbehaving with her, making obscene gestures. When she objected to their conduct, an argument broke out. During the confrontation, one of the accused is said to have grabbed a vessel containing hot oil used for frying samosas and hurled it on her, leaving her with severe burn injuries. The assailants then escaped from the scene.
On hearing the woman’s cries for help, nearby residents rushed in and, along with her relatives, immediately shifted her to a hospital. Police were alerted soon after and initiated an investigation into the matter.
One of the accused, Uday Chaudhary, has been taken into custody, while police teams are conducting raids to trace the other suspect, Manish Chaudhary, who remains at large. A case has been registered on the basis of the victim’s complaint, and further legal action is in progress.

Senior officials have stated that those involved will face stringent action and assured that the case is being handled with complete seriousness. The incident has sparked anger and tension in the village, with locals calling for harsh punishment for the culprits.
