TMC Crisis Deepens: Amid the ongoing crisis in the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Kalyan Banerjee, a party MP and a loyalist to Mamata Banerjee, has too openly criticised Abhishek Banerjee, Mamata's nephew and party general secretary. In a TV interview on Thursday, Kalyan Banerjee alleged that he was removed as a lawyer in the signature forgery case at the last moment. He further claimed that the Diamond Harbour MP has become too arrogant and does not respect the seniors.
In what appeared as an ultimatum to Mamata Banerjee, Kalyan asked the party chief to either choose her nephew or the old guards. He also alleged that Abhishek Banerjee does not trust him, adding that the whole party got destroyed due to his arrogance.

"I am with Mamata Di, but she needs to choose now. It is too humiliating. At midnight, I was told the lawyer had been changed. He doesn’t know how to respect seniors. Abhishek never trusted me, and he will never trust me. Who is he? Such an arrogant person. For him, the party has been destroyed," Kalyan Banerjee was quoted as saying by India Today.
The party is facing its deepest internal crisis following the humiliating defeat in the West Bengal Assembly election. At least 60 of the total 80 MLAs have rebelled against the party chief Mamata Banerjee, claiming to be the "real Trinamool".

The rebellion continued even in New Delhi as 20 MPs have reportedly decided to support the NDA under the leadership of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. The list includes names of some of the celebrities who were brought to the politics by Mamata Banerjee and were given the Lok Sabha ticket.
While Mamata Banerjee has directly not addressed the large-scale rebellion yet, her loyalists have challenged the legislators to resign if they are not satisfied with the leadership. The rebel leaders have criticised Abhishek Banerjee, calling him arrogant and corrupt.
