Jagran Correspondent, Kanpur: Kanpur is set to become a central hub in the ambitious development plan for the Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region (SCR). During a high-level meeting, two major projects estimated to cost Rs 32,000 crore received departmental approval in principle. These include the proposed 187-kilometre Namo Bharat (RRTS) corridor and the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway.

Construction on both these projects is set to begin after receiving final approval from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

187-Km Namo Bharat Corridor To Connect Kanpur And Ayodhya Via Lucknow

The proposed 187-kilometre Namo Bharat (RRTS) corridor will originate at Nayaganj in Kanpur and extend to Ayodhya via Unnao and Lucknow. The project's first phase will include a 67-kilometre corridor linking Nayaganj to Amausi. A total of 12 stations are proposed along the corridor, providing fast and modern public transportation between Kanpur, Unnao, and Lucknow.

A Look At Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway

Residential, commercial and industrial zones will be developed along both sides of the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway. This initiative aims to attract new investment, establish industrial units, and create employment opportunities around Kanpur.

Additionally, the project will promote planned urban development across the areas connected by the expressway.

300-Km Outer Ring Road, Ring Rail, And New Industrial Clusters

The development plan for the Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region (SCR) includes several major infrastructure projects. Key projects are a 300-kilometre Outer Ring Road connecting six districts, a 151-kilometre Ring Rail network, and new industrial clusters in Bachhrawan and Sandila. The plan also includes new transport cities and projects related to the health and tourism sectors.

Speaking to Jagran.com, an official stated that the implementation of these projects will strengthen Kanpur's regional connectivity and accelerate its role as a key economic hub in the state. Divisional Commissioner K Vijayendra Pandian confirmed that the government has approved these major projects, adding that further details will be shared once a report is finalised.
