Jagran Correspondent, Aurangabad: The state authority in Bihar has expedited the process of preparing a new detailed project report (DPR) for the widening of National Highway-139 into four lanes. The highway connects the Aurangabad district to Patna, and the project is likely to provide relief to the commuters by reducing the traffic congestion. Along with improving the travel experience, the project is also expected to boost the financial activities in these regions.
Four-Lane Bypasses Planned
As per the reports, the main road from Naubatpur to Arwal will be developed as a four-lane under the new plan. Apart from this, four major four-lane bypasses will be built between Arwal and Maharajganj in Aurangabad to reduce the traffic congestion. The authority stated that bypasses will be built at Arwal, Daudnagar, Obra, and Aurangabad to boost the regional connectivity.
The officials, while providing details, stated that the Aurangabad bypass will directly connect to the Varanasi-Kolkata Greenfield Expressway being built under the Bharatmala Project. The construction of the bypass will eliminate the need for long-distance vehicles to enter Aurangabad, Risiap, and Amba cities, significantly reducing traffic congestion.
Bypasses To Cut Travel Time
Tulsi Prasad, NH executive engineer, stated that the main road between the end of the Arwal bypass and the beginning of the Daudnagar bypass will be four-lane. Apart from this, four-lane roads will be developed to the Obra bypass and then to the Aurangabad bypass to improve the connectivity. He further stated that the vehicles will use these bypasses to reach the Bharatmala Greenfield Expressway directly, cutting the travel time significantly.
Earlier on Friday, a joint team from NHAI's consultancy agency and the NH department conducted a site inspection of the proposed Aurangabad and Obra bypasses. The officials were briefed on the proposed route, alignment, and various aspects of the DPR during the inspection. As per the officials, the link between the Aurangabad bypass and the Bharatmala project will improve the travel experience for the commuters.
