Karnataka CM News: Amid the ongoing power transfer talks in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday announced that DK Shivakumar will be the next chief minister. The outgoing chief minister, during the cabinet meeting, announced that the new government will be formed under his deputy. The announcement came after days of speculation of power share talks in the southern state. As per the reports, Siddaramaiah will submit his resignation at around 3 PM today.

The outgoing chief minister is also expected to make the public announcement at a press conference after submitting his resignation. Earlier on Tuesday, the Congress high command had summoned both the leaders to New Delhi to discuss several key issues. While the party leaders maintained that the meeting was called for the Rajya Sabha and MLC polls, the reports suggested that power share was also one of the agendas.

As per the reports, the matter was discussed in the presence of senior party leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge; LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi; and general secretary KC Venugopal. The reports suggested that Rahul Gandhi asked Siddaramaiah to resign and enter into national politics through the Rajya Sabha.

Gandhi reportedly wanted Siddaramaiah to play a bigger role in the 2029 Lok Sabha polls. Siddaramaiah, a prominent OBC face, could play a key role in the party's projection as the well-wisher of the community. However, the senior leader has reportedly expressed his desire to continue in state politics.
