Karnataka Power Shift: A day after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation, the discussion on formation of the next government is likely today in Delhi. DK Shivakumar, the frontrunner for the CM post, arrived in the national capital on Thursday to participate in the meeting. Siddaramaiah also arrived in Delhi in the late hours after his flight was diverted to Jaipur due to the heavy rainfall.

While Shivakumar is almost certain to become the next chief minister, Siddaramaiah stated that the final decision will be taken by the Congress top brass. Earlier this week, both of the senior leaders were summoned to Delhi before the power share was announced by the current chief minister himself. A series of high-profile meetings were held in the presence of senior party leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and Randeep Surjewala.

As per the reports, while Shivakumar is set to become the next chief minister, several key portfolios are likely to be given to the close aides of Siddaramaiah. Apart from this, Siddaramaiah also reportedly suggested multiple deputy CMs in the new government, but Shivakumar showed resistance.

The reports suggest that several key issues are likely to be discussed in the meeting today, including the election of the new Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, the new cabinet, organisational restructuring within the party, and the key post of KPPC chief, currently held by Shivakumar.

While Shivakumar is expected to be the chief minister, Siddaramaiah will continue to work in the state despite being offered a Rajya Sabha seat by the party high command. The party veteran stated that he wanted to remain in Karnataka politics till his last breath.

"I have given my resignation after a suggestion by the party high command. I have told the party high command that I don't want to go to the Rajya Sabha. I remain in Karnataka politics till my last breath," Siddaramaiah said.
