Bengaluru Crime News: Three students of a private college situated in Devanahalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, have been arrested, and 19 others have been booked for ragging and assaulting juniors. The action has been taken after a complaint by Midhun Madhavan, head of the admissions department at Akash Group of Institutions in Devanahalli, police said.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly ragged first-year students on the campus on January 14 and forced them to follow their orders, including fetching cigarettes and drinks and carrying their books. When the juniors approached Madhavan, he warned the senior students against repeating such acts.
As per the complaints, the seniors resumed ragging on January 15, prompting the junior to reach out to Madhavan again. Madhavan, along with junior students, went to the tea stall to warm the senior students again.
The senior students allegedly assaulted junior students and Madhavan after the exchange escalated. As per the complaint, quoted by PTI, besides college seniors, outsiders were also present there, one of them named Naveen. Naveen, accompanying the seniors, allegedly attacked them using rods, sticks and stones and issued threats, the FIR stated.
One of the senior students snatched a gold chain from one of the victims and threatened the juniors to follow the seniors’ instructions.
The students named in the complaint are Bilal, Jiril, Mishal, Arjun, Antony, Edrin, Saran, Adman, Noel, Baishudhen, Afail, Shiyas, Nishad, Junaid, Jainel, Shameel, Shanni, Shuhaib, Binto, Sabith, Adithyaraj, Mubashir and Naveen, apart from other unidentified persons.
