Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: In the ongoing investigation into the murder case of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, a Maharashtra court on Friday sent Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary to 14-day judicial custody.
The duo was produced before the court after their police custody ended. While the police sought an extension of their remand and permission to conduct polygraph tests, the court remanded the accused to judicial custody till July 16, news agency PTI reported.
Coded Conversations And Siya's Second Phone
According to a report by India Today, the accused, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, allegedly used 'code words' to communicate. Investigating Officer Manoj Pawar revealed that while the exact meaning and purpose of these coded conversations are still being determined, a second mobile phone belonging to Siya has been recovered.
The mobile phone was recovered on Thursday when police took her to her residence as part of the ongoing investigation. Investigators suspect that Siya used this second phone to communicate with Chaudhary and plan the murder.
In addition to the phone, police have seized clothes suspected to have been worn by the accused at the time of the crime, along with documents related to the investigation.
Siya was later taken to a cafe in Pune's Lulla Nagar area, where investigators believe the plot to murder Ketan was hatched. Her statement was recorded at the cafe, Jagram.com reported.
Google Searches And A Murder Rehearsal At Lohagad Fort
Siya and Chetan allegedly killed Ketan by pushing him off a cliff at Pune's Lohagad Fort.
The initial investigation revealed that Siya and Chetan had googled ways to kill Ketan. According to police, the two had even gone to the fort alone to 'rehearse' the murder before committing it. They prepared and practised their responses in case they were caught by the police. The two had also planned to disguise themselves to avoid suspicion.
