Ketan Agrawal Murder: In a fresh twist in the Ketan Agrawal murder case, a classmate of murder accused Chetan Chaudhary has been detained by Pune Rural Police for questioning after investigators suspected that the student was aware of the alleged conspiracy to kill Agrawal well before the crime was carried out, making him a potentially crucial witness in the case, News18 reported.
Earlier on Wednesday, Pune Police took accused Chetan Chaudhary to Lohagad Fort near Pune to recreate the crime scene in the Ketan Agrawal murder case. Investigators used a dummy matching the victim's weight to reconstruct how the incident allegedly unfolded.
Did Chetan's classmate know about the murder conspiracy?
According to News18, citing sources, the classmate was "in the know" of the alleged murder plan and is believed to have met both Chetan Chaudhary and co-accused Siya Goyal after the murder.
Police are now examining his conversations with the accused to determine whether he had prior knowledge of the conspiracy and whether any evidence or details related to the crime were shared or discussed after the murder.
However, officials have not yet indicated whether the student will be treated as a witness or whether any further legal action is being considered.
On Thursday, Pune Police took accused Siya Goyal to an open ground in the Lullanagar area of Pune, where she and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary had allegedly rehearsed the plan to push Ketan Agrawal off Lohagad Fort.
Police also recovered from Siya Goyal's residence the clothes she allegedly wore on the day of the incident.
Ketan Agrawal Murder Case: Background
The case dates back to June 18, when Ketan Agrawal's fiancee, Siya Goyal, 22, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, allegedly pushed him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort after making multiple failed attempts to kill him.
Lonavala Rural Police suspect that the prime accused, Siya Goyal, who was engaged to Agrawal, was unwilling to marry at this stage of her life and was allegedly under family pressure to go ahead with the marriage.
Investigators have alleged that the murder was not impulsive but the culmination of weeks of planning, including multiple failed attempts and a rehearsal conducted days before the crime. Police have reconstructed the sequence of events using digital evidence, forensic material, and statements collected during the investigation.
Meanwhile, accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were arrested on June 23 and remain in police custody until July 3 as the investigation continues.
