Kolkata Metro Update: The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL) has introduced a brand new return ticket facility with a QR code for commuters. The new rule will be applicable across all the corridors of Kolkata Metro. Once the new rule is applicable, passengers would not have to purchase separate tickets from metro counters for the return journey.
"This will help them save time and the ordeal of queueing before the counter on return from the destination station," the Metro Railway spokespersons said. The official further said that the return journey will have to be completed on the same day as the date of the journey. “Passengers are requested to preserve their tickets for the return journey," he added.
The initiative will initially be rolled out on an experimental basis and then will be implemented across different metro lines.

Kolkata Metro Increases Services On Blue And Green Lines
In a separate development, the Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL) has increased the number of services on the Blue and Green Lines on Sundays. However, services on the Orange, Purple and Yellow Lines will remain unchanged.

Kolkata Metro Update: Updated Blue Line, Green Line Services
- The Blue Line (running between Dakshineswar and Shahid Khudiram) will run 160 services (80 up and 80 down) on Sundays instead of 130 services earlier.
- The Green Line (running between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V) will run 124 services (62 up and 62 down) on Sundays instead of 108 earlier.
Kolkata Metro: Revised Timings
With the increase in services on the Blue and Green Lines, timings are also set to be revised. The new timings are:
- The first train on the Blue Line will start at 9 am, while the last train will depart for Dakshineswar at 9:33 pm from Shahid Khudiram and at 9:44 pm from Dum Dum.
- The first train from Howrah Maidan will start at 9 am, while the first train from Salt Lake Sector V will start at 9:02 am. The last train on the Green Line will depart at 9:55 pm.
