Jagran Correspondent | Srinagar: In the latest development in the Kulgam terror attack, the investigators found out that Lashkar terrorist Latif Butt had killed the two migrant workers in Kashmir’s Kulgam on Friday night. The officials revealed that Butt had a conversation with the two workers identified as Deepak (24) and Bhupendra (28) for nearly 20 minutes to gain their trust.

The attacker came with a black bag, wherein he concealed his rifle. At first, he asked their names. Through the conversation, Butt assured them that he would not cause any harm to the two.

Toddler Was Present At The Scene

Then, the terrorist asked for a glass of water, saying he’s thirsty. One of the worker’s wives, who was present at the scene, went there to bring it. As she moved from the site, Butt opened fire at the workers. A toddler, one and a half to two years old, was also present nearby at the site. After shooting the two workers, he fled with another accomplice who was nearby.

Similarities with the Pahalgam attack

In Pahalgam too, terrorists killed tourists after asking their name and religion. The similarities between the two incidents indicate that terrorist organisations are no longer simply killing but are employing a well-planned strategy of fear, division, and killing. On April 22, 2025, 26 innocent tourists were killed in cold blood after segregating them based on their religion in Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Post the attack, TRF claimed the responsibility for this attack not once but twice within a few hours.  Pakistan’s subsequent refusal to acknowledge or curb these terrorist networks compelled India to take a responsible but resolute action. In response, on 7–8 May 2025, the Government of India executed “Operation Sindoor,”.  The response was non escalatory, precise and targeted terrorist training camps at nine different locations within Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
