Following the terror attack in Kashmir’s Kulgam on Friday night, the second migrant worker succumbed to his injuries during the early of Saturday, bringing the death toll to two. The deceased individuals were identified as Deepak (24) and Bhupendra (28), who passed away during treatment at the hospital.The Resistance Front (TRF), a front organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack and threatened further attacks in the region.

Following the attack, security forces have cordoned off the surrounding area and intensified a search operation to capture the terrorists who escaped after the attack.

What Happened On Friday?

At around 8:15 pm on Friday night, two terrorists arrived at a brick kiln in the Kelam area of Kulgam. The two attackers asked the names of workers and then opened fire at close range.

Kuldeep and Bhupendra collapsed on the ground after being shot, and the terrorists fled, thinking the two were dead.

As the two assailants fled the scene, their colleagues with the help of local people took the bleeding workers to Anantnag Medical College (GMC) hospital, where doctors declared the injured worker (24) Deepak Ratre son of Uma Shankar dead, while the other injured worker (28) Bhupendra son of Dashrath was also declared dead late in the night.

Following this, Bhupendra was shifted to the Sher-e-Kashmir Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Hospital in Srinagar for advance treatment. Deepak was hit in the chest, while Bhupendra was shot in the abdomen. This is the second targeted attack in Kashmir in nine days.

Earlier, terrorists shot dead a policeman on Shri Amarnath Yatra duty in the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag on July 22. This is the second major attack this year, following the Pahalgam attack on April 22 last year.
