Delhi Rouse Avenue Court on Monday granted bail to RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his sons, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav on a bond of Rs one lakh each in connection with the land-for-jobs scam. The matter is listed for October 25. Special Judge Vishal Gogne granted bail to the three and noted that they were not arrested during investigation of the case. The court further directed all three accused to surrender their passports. Lalu Yadav's daughter and party MP Misa Bharti was also present with them in the court.

Lalu Prasad, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav appeared before the Delhi court in pursuance to summons issued to them by the court earlier. The judge had issued the summons after taking cognisance of a supplementary charge sheet against the accused persons.

The final report was filed before the court by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on August 6. The ED filed its case based on an FIR lodged by the CBI.

"They keep indulging in political conspiracy. They misuse agencies. There is nothing concrete in this case. Our victory is certain..." said Tejashwi Yadav, as quoted by news agency ANI.

What Is Land-For-Jobs Scam?

The case pertains to Group-D appointments made in the West Central Zone of the railways in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh during Prasad's tenure as railway minister from 2004 to 2009 in return for land parcels gifted or transferred by the recruits in the name of the RJD supremo's family or associates, according to the ED.

The accusations claim that between 2004 and 2009, many individuals were appointed to Group "D" roles in different Indian Railways zones. In return for these positions, it is alleged that these individuals transferred their land to Prasad's family members and a related company, A K Infosystems Private Limited.
