Bihar Political Drama: A major political drama unfolded in Bihar after former chief ministers Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi returned their security after their Z-plus security cover was withdrawn. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) senior leaders are reportedly upset over the delimitation of their security cover and deny accepting the new arrangement. The RJD workers were seen standing with sticks outside the residence of Rabri Devi on Saturday, a symbolic protest to oppose the state government's decision.

Earlier this week, the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) provided security cover to the senior leaders after the state government withdrew the high-level security arrangements following a review. However, the former chief ministers removed the staff deployed outside their residence in Patna. Apart from this, party senior leader Tejashwi Yadav also returned Y-category security cover.

While reacting to the issue, Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, alleged that the state government deliberately reduced the security cover of the RJD veterans. "Given that there is no point in retaining a mere facade of security after such a reduction, Rabri Devi ji has decided to send the security personnel back from her official residence," she said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In a separate post, the RJD leader asserted that the former chief ministers and their families are being harassed, adding that people will give a befitting reply to those responsible. "The entire nation and all of Bihar are witnessing how Bihar's first female chief minister and her family are being harassed; the people of Bihar will give a befitting reply to every action taken out of vindictiveness," she said.

The matter is likely to further escalate as RJD spokesperson Shakti Yadav said that more party leaders will return their security cover soon. The row escalated amid the ongoing controversy over notice to Rabri Devi, asking her to vacate her residence in Patna. However, she has refused to vacate the bungalow, challenging the state government to use force.
