Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway: The vehicles travelling on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway from July 14 will be charged with tolls, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) informed. As per the reports, the journey on the much-awaited expressway will be costlier for the vehicles with no annual FASTags installed on their vehicles. The authority stated that such vehicles will be charged Rs 275, adding that the toll fees will be Rs 415 if they return within 24 hours.
Toll Plazas To Be Equipped With Modern Facilities
However, the vehicles with annual FASTag will be allowed to travel on the expressway for just Rs 15. As per the NHAI officials, the toll plazas between Lucknow and Kanpur include Shivpura (Khandedeo), Bani, Amarsas, and Azad Chowk. They further stated that toll rates will be reduced if the commuters board or disembark at these points, adding that the toll plazas will be equipped with modern facilities.
Relief For Commuters With Annual Passes
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways offers annual passes for Rs 3,075 to those traveling on national highways and expressways. The commuters with annual passes are allowed to make 200 trips per year and are charged significantly less than the usual travelers. As per the NHAI, the annual pass can be availed at more than 1,150 toll plazas across the country.
E-Way To Boost Regional Connectivity
The expressway is set to boost the regional connectivity and will also reduce the travel time significantly. The officials stated that the project will also improve the travel experience by reducing the traffic congestion. Along with improving the connectivity, the expressway is also set to boost the financial activities in the nearby districts.
While currently it takes over two hours to travel between Lucknow and Kanpur, the expressway will enable the commuters to cover the same distance in 40 minutes. Along with connecting the two cities, the project will also benefit other districts, like Unnao. The maximum speed limit for vehicles on this expressway has been set at 120 kilometers per hour.
