A disturbing call recording has surfaced wherein a professor from Lucknow University is asking a female student to receive leaked papers in return for some undue favours. The assistant called a BSC student from the Department of Zoology and told her to meet him.
As per the call recording, the Professor says, "Darling, I have retrieved two papers for you. When will you come meet me?"
To which the student says, "Sir, I have studied and completed the syllabus."
"So you will not come meet me even once?" says the Professor.
"I have to take care of things at home. I'll try coming," he said.
The Lucknow University Professor said "Don't try; come before the exams, within seven days."
In the recording, the investigating team found two reasons for his arrest. One is the objectionable and derogatory phone conversation wherein undue favours were sought from a woman student. The other is the alleged paper leak, an issue that has gained national significance as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the probe into the NEET UG 2026 paper leak.
University Has Lodged Complaint
In the retrieved call recording, Assistant Professor Paramjit Singh can be heard forcing the woman to meet him before the exams. The female student responds by refusing the papers. According to the student, at the end of the call, Singh summoned the student to meet so he could molest her again, NDTV reported.
The female student submitted both the recordings to the University administration. The university's Comptroller of Examination lodged a complaint, and a committee has been formed to investigate the incident.
The police officers have taken the professor into custody. He denied all allegations and claimed that he is being falsely implicated due to the university's "internal politics."
ABVP Demands Strict Action
Activists from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest on the university campus and demanded immediate action against the professor. ABVP Lucknow University unit president Jai Srivastava said the university administration, the local police, and the Uttar Pradesh government should invoke stringent provisions related to examination integrity and sexual harassment and arrest the accused professor.

The Lucknow university administration has clarified that any activity that destroys the institution's image will be treated with the utmost gravity. Vice Chancellor JP Saini has directed the Internal Complaints Committee to submit its inquiry report within 24 hours.
Previously, university officials had claimed the statements of the accused professor, the female student, and some other students were recorded in the proctor's office on Friday and the inquiry was being taken forward, after which a decision would be taken.
