Panic erupted in Vachitra Nagar near Malerkotla Road in Ludhiana on Thursday after a shooting incident during a post-election celebration left five people injured.

According to reports, a dispute between two groups escalated, resulting in gunfire and a stone-pelting attack. Gurmukh Singh, an AAP worker, said he was thanking residents for the victory of his party's candidate when 10-15 people hiding in a nearby house suddenly opened fire. Ravinder Singh, another injured person, added that he was leading a foot rally after winning the block committee elections when he was attacked.

The victims stated that around 20-25 shots were fired, and they were also assaulted with bricks. The attackers reportedly included former Congress sarpanch Jasbir Singh, his son, and a woman named Pooja. Narinder Singh, another eyewitness, said that the attack occurred after AAP candidate Sukhbir Singh Khanna’s victory was celebrated, and Congress leader Jasbir Singh tried to prevent the gathering but was ignored.

The Marado police station has registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. All five injured have been admitted to Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, and are receiving treatment.
