India-China Flights: The air connectivity between India and China is set to get a major boost with new flights being launched, aiming to facilitate smoother travel between the two nations. China Eastern Airlines is gearing up to launch daily nonstop flights connecting Delhi and Shanghai.

The launch of direct daily services is expected to benefit business travellers, investors, and trade delegations, making it easier to travel between the two key economic hubs and strengthening commercial ties between the countries.

Delhi-Shanghai Non-Stop Flights From January 2: Check Details

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in India, Yu Jing, announced that the daily Delhi-Shanghai flights are set to commence on January 2, 2026. Each flight will cover the distance between the two cities in under eight hours, significantly reducing travel time.

The post also included important announcements regarding the launch of direct flights from China to Mumbai and Kolkata.

“Good news for India-China travellers! Starting January 2, 2026, China Eastern Airlines will launch daily nonstop flights between Delhi and Shanghai. The Kolkata–Kunming route is set to return soon. A new direct connection between Mumbai and Shanghai is also in the works,” the X post read.

China Eastern Airlines To Launch Direct Mumbai-Shanghai Flights

The China Eastern Airlines is planning to introduce new direct flights connecting Mumbai and Shanghai, with formal paperwork already underway. Once operational, these services are expected to offer passengers flexibility in travel planning and reduce reliance on connecting flights.

Kolkata-Kunming Flights Set To Resume Soon

Yu Jing further wrote that the Kolkata-Kunming route will soon resume operations. According to media reports, China-India direct flights, including Kolkata-Kunming, were suspended for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and border tensions.

Only some services have started returning this year as travel demand increases and bilateral relations gradually normalise.
