Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra issued a clarification over a controversy sparked by a purported video of him making remarks about Lord Ram, denying the claim as real. He rejected the claim to be real and called it doctored, AI-generated, and fabricated.

According to CNN-News 18, Madan Mitra did not comment, as alleged by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “This is absolutely a doctored, AI-generated, fabricated video. I have not said anything like this. I have only said, " Does Ram have a title? He is a dev to us.”

Controversy Begins During Public Gathering

The controversial row started gathering limelight after a video surfaced online in which Kamarhati MLA is seen addressing a public gathering, allegedly heard making comments about Lord Ram’s religious identity.

Soon after, it started gathering criticism from the BJP, which accused the TMC MLA of insulting Hindu beliefs and religion. The BJP unit from West Bengal condemned the remarks and called out the overall party’s ideological stand.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the party accused TMC leaders of insulting Hindu gods and beliefs, and called it nothing but vote appeasement tricks.
BJP also warns that any party that makes such a remark on Hindu beliefs will be thrown out of power sooner or later.

Deliberate Attempt To Insult Faith

BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari called this whole incident a ‘deliberate insult to Hindus’. He said, “This is what the TMC has degenerated into: Daily attacks on Hindu beliefs, mocking Hindu faith and traditions of Bengal’s people, and Cheap provocation to appease a vote bank," he said in a post on X.

Bhandari further claimed that the silence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee speaks about the party’s political stand.

“Such statements don’t come from ignorance alone; they come from political patronage. When Mamata Banerjee chooses to stay quiet, it becomes clear that this insult has her approval, Bhandari added.
