Goa Club Fire: The Luthra brothers, wanted in connection with the deadly Goa nightclub fire, arrived in India on Tuesday after being deported from Thailand. A massive fire broke out at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, Goa, on the intervening night of December 6-7. 25 people, including 5 tourists, died in the blaze. The club's owners Saurav and Gaurav Luthra fled to Thailand shortly after the incident.

What Awaits Luthra Brothers In India?

According to a Times Of India report, officials from the central agencies will take the Luthra brothers from Delhi's IGI airport to the Patiala House Court, from where the Goa Police will take them on transit remand. The duo will be flown to Goa later in the day, reported TOI quoting Goa DGP Alok Kumar.

The deportation process of the Delhi-based restaurateurs was carried out with the help of the Indian foreign ministry, the Indian Embassy in Thailand, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in coordination with the Royal Thai Police and the Thai government.

Luthra brothers were deported from Bangkok after Indian authorities furnished all required documentation to the Thai officials, including the necessary Emergency Certificates (ECs) issued after the brothers' passports were cancelled.

In India, the Luthra brothers will face charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and negligence in connection with the fire incident. The Goa government has formed a special legal team to ensure the case is pursued effectively.

The Goa Police has filed a criminal case dated December 7 at the Police Station Arpora Anjuna, North Goa, under sections 105, 125, 125(a), 125(b), and 287, read with 3(5) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023.
