As the Centre plans to make laws stricter to address the paper leak menace and other exam-related irregularities, the Madhya Pradesh government has also decided to enact a stringent law regarding public examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means).
This will include stringent financial penalties, property confiscation, speedy investigations, and prosecutions for crimes such as paper leaks, solver gangs, digital cheating, taking exams using someone else's identity, and organised exam crimes. All such cases will be tried in fast-track courts.
Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav issued instructions in this regard during a meeting with officials on Sunday. He said that efforts have been underway for a long time to improve the examination system. A key component of this initiative is strict legislation to prevent unfair means in examinations.
Additionally, the General Administration Department has prepared to amend the rules for examinations conducted by the State Public Service Commission and the Staff Selection Board. Claims and objections have been invited to the draft rules, and these are now being finalised.
What to expect?
One exam for positions with similar eligibility criteria: Whether it's a Staff Selection Board or a State Public Service Commission, a group of positions with similar eligibility criteria will be created, and only one exam will be conducted annually. The advantage of this is that candidates won't have to appear for the same exam repeatedly.
The examination will be conducted using state-of-the-art technology. From question paper preparation to evaluation, state-of-the-art security measures like digital encryption, CCTV surveillance, biometric verification and artificial intelligence-based suspicious activity analysis will be implemented under the supervision of government security agencies in the entire examination process.
To ensure transparency in the recruitment process, an independent and effective grievance redressal cell will be established. Candidates will be able to file complaints online and track their status, and timely resolution of each complaint will be ensured. Independent investigations will also be conducted in necessary cases.
