A pregnant woman in Madhya Pradesh's Morena has been allegedly raped by three individuals, who then set her on fire, police said on Saturday. The 34-year-old is fighting for her life in a hospital.

According to an official, the victim is receiving treatment in Gwalior after suffering 80 per cent burns. According to him, the incident happened on Friday in Chand Ka Pura village, which is about 3 km from Ambah town.

Inspector Alok Parihar of the Ambah police station told PTI that the victim went to the village to work out a settlement with a woman who had accused her husband of rape.

However, it is claimed that three men who were in the woman's home sexually assaulted the victim.

The official stated that later on, the three of them along with the accused woman dipped her in fuel and set her ablaze.

The victim, who was being driven to a hospital, was heard on a video that was provided to the police stating that she had been gang-raped before the accused woman and the men set her on fire.

The video was given to the police by the victim's husband, who is being held free on bond in connection with the rape, according to Parihar.

He said that although the victim had recorded her statement with the magistrate, the police had not yet done so and that investigations were still ongoing.
