Madhya Pradesh's Nishatpura railway station, often referred to as a "haunted" or "ghost" station by locals, is finally ready to welcome passengers. The Bhopal Railway Division announced on Saturday that train services will soon resume from the station.
After remaining idle for nearly three years, the station will finally open to passengers on July 28. The Bhopal Railway Division confirmed that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the long-delayed facility at 4:30 pm, ending its "ghost station" tag.
The station was completed in June 2023, but despite being ready for operations, no railway staff were posted there, no trains stopped, and no passengers boarded or deboarded. As a result, the deserted station began to resemble a haunted place.
Bhopal Railway Division PRO Naval Agarwal said the local administration has finalised the stoppage of trains at the station, with the Malwa Express and Somnath Express included in the schedule.
"We are happy to announce that Nishatpura station under the Bhopal division is fully ready to welcome passengers. It will be inaugurated on July 28," Agarwal said.
Railway officials stated that the main reasons for the halt in operations and its subsequent designation as a ghost station were delays in operational approval and other necessary changes, which have now been resolved.
The Nishatpura stoppage for two major express trains is expected to improve connectivity for residents of nearby areas and reduce pressure on Bhopal railway station.
