Vinod Rathod, Mumbai: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak has launched a nationwide manhunt to arrest the alleged mastermind, Bijendra Kumar Gupta. Authorities suspect that Gupta is linked to a larger interstate exam paper leak network, prompting them to expand their investigation far beyond the borders of Maharashtra.
Suspected Of Involvement In Five Paper Leak Cases
The SIT investigation has revealed that Gupta operated under several different aliases to evade detection. Preliminary findings indicate that he is suspected of involvement in at least five major exam paper leak cases. Among these is the high-profile 2023 Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) paper leak case in Odisha.
Another Criminal Case Registered In Odisha
The investigating agency has learned that another criminal case is registered against Gupta in Odisha. Following this, they contacted the relevant police station to obtain documents and details related to the case.
A senior official confirmed the development, stating, "We have sought information from the Odisha police regarding the case. After investigating there and gathering the available evidence, we will determine its connection to the Maharashtra TET paper leak case."

Nationwide Hunt Launched, Other Paper Leak Rackets Under Scanner
Gupta is currently absconding. Special teams of the SIT have launched raids and searches across several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi, to arrest him.
Maharashtra Police suspect that Gupta's network spans multiple states. According to the officials, the Maharashtra TET paper leak is not an isolated incident but part of a highly organised gang involved in leaking and selling competitive exam question papers in various states. Officials believe that Gupta's arrest will be a crucial breakthrough, likely providing important clues to unravelling other paper leak rackets operating across the country.
A thorough investigation into the financial transactions, mobile call records, digital evidence, and printing press contacts of the accused is currently underway. As the investigation progresses, the names of other individuals involved in the racket are expected to emerge.
