Amid ongoing rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, a massive landslide occurred in Mandi district on Saturday morning. A large portion of a mountain collapsed onto the road just ahead of a bus traveling from Pandoh to Moviseri. While stones struck the vehicle, a major disaster was averted due to the swift reflexes and presence of mind shown by the driver.
Realising the danger, the driver immediately halted the bus and began deboarding the passengers. Within moments, a massive amount of debris and boulders cascaded down from the hillside, completely blocking the road.
Panic Among Passengers
There were approximately 30 passengers on board at the time of the incident. The sight of the crumbling mountain triggered widespread panic and a chaotic atmosphere inside the bus. Terrified passengers rushed to exit the vehicle immediately.
Driver’s Heroism Prevents Tragedy
The road has been completely blocked due to the debris. Passengers praised the driver for his quick thinking, which saved dozens of lives. Following the incident, an administrative team was dispatched to the spot to begin road restoration work. Witnesses credited the driver, Bittu, and the conductor, Manu, for their presence of mind in preventing a fatal accident.

The "Thakur Coach" bus was heading from Pandoh toward Moviseri. At around 8:55 am near Thamlah Khad, a heavy landslide suddenly struck. Driver Bittu managed to control the vehicle just in time, ensuring all passengers remained unharmed. Conductor Manu also played a crucial role in managing the panicked passengers and ensuring a safe evacuation.
