Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case: The high profile murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi has taken a new turn, as the Shillong police filed a charge sheet in court, naming his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, as the prime accused. This follows the third rejection of Sonam's bail plea, intensifying the legal scrutiny around her involvement in her husband's death.
According to a report by NDTV, Raja’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, has raised serious doubts about Sonam’s claims of innocence. He pointed out that, before leaving for her honeymoon, Sonam had handed over her personal belongings to Raj Kushwaha, a man whom she is alleged to have been involved with. Vipin further revealed that after Raja's death, Sonam did not return to her in-laws’ home, instead heading directly to Raj’s residence.
Though Vipin has not yet seen the charge sheet, he expressed doubt about Sonam's innocence based on the details that have emerged so far. “She claims she’s innocent, but her actions raise too many questions,” he stated, casting serious doubt on her version of events.
Vipin also commented on Sonam's earlier statements, where she claimed to be happy in her marriage to Raja and suggested that she was being falsely accused. “Sonam always wore a mask of happiness,” Vipin remarked.
“She seemed thrilled at every wedding event. Right after the wedding, she booked honeymoon tickets for a destination Raja didn’t even want to go to. All of this seems too planned to be coincidental.”
He further questioned her behavior after the murder. "If she were truly innocent, why didn’t she return to her in-laws' house? Instead, she went straight to Raj’s house in Indore. She claims she was held captive, but why didn’t she ask for help during her journey from Shillong to Indore?" Vipin said, expressing disbelief at Sonam’s actions.
Additionally, Vipin cast doubt on Sonam’s claim that Raj Kushwaha was like a brother to her. "If Raj was truly like a brother, why did she flee with him after her husband's death? Why didn’t she contact the family first?" he asked.

Raja’s father, Ashok Raghuvanshi, also spoke out, demanding harsh punishment for Sonam.
"She should be given the death penalty or a life sentence," he said, alleging that Sonam and Raj Kushwaha had been in a romantic relationship for three years. "If Raj was truly like a brother to her, why did she run away and hide with him?" he questioned, expressing outrage over what he believes is a deliberate conspiracy.
