Monsoon Rains Fury: The continuous and intense rainfall in several states, including Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Kerala, has created chaos and claimed the lives of many. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), these regions are expected to witness more rain in the coming days. The continuous rainfall has caused waterlogging in the lower regions and has led to significant damage to the infrastructure.
Maharashtra: 3000 Cylinders Washed Away
A video from Maharashtra's Raigad went viral on the social media platforms, showing 3,000 LPG cylinders floating in the Patalganga river. As per the officials, a wall of the storage facility collapsed due to the adverse weather condition, leading to the incident.
In a separate incident, a three-story building collapsed in Pimpri Chinchwad after a large pile of garbage collapsed. The reports suggest that at least 16 people got trapped in the building. The rescue and relief teams are clearing debris and rescuing those trapped. The water level of the rivers has significantly surged in the state, and the rail and other transportation services have been affected in the capital city, Mumbai.
Gujarat: 13 Dead Due To Floods
At least 13 people have lost their lives in Surat in the past 24 hours due to the flood-like situation. The highest number of deaths was reported from the Dindoli police station area, where four bodies were recovered, including a 59-year-old man.
Kerala: Landslide Claims 5 Lives
The death toll from a landslide at a tunnel road construction site in Wayanad increased to five on Thursday. While the administration has recovered one body, four people are still missing. The landslide occurred on July 7 near the Anakkampoyil-Meppadi tunnel project site, connecting Wayanad and Kozhikode districts.
