In a heartbreaking incident from Prayagraj, a mother sacrificed her own life while saving her three children from a massive fire that tore through their residential building.

The woman, identified as Archana, chose to save her children instead of thinking about her own safety as flames engulfed the building and thick smoke blocked escape routes.

According to an NDTV report, the fire broke out on the night of May 12 after a suspected short circuit in a crockery shop located on the ground floor of the building. The flames quickly spread upward, trapping family members living on the upper floors.

As smoke blocked the staircase and escape routes, panic spread through the house and the family rushed to the rooftop in search of safety.

Archana focused only on saving her children. She wrapped her one-year-old baby in a bedsheet and carefully lowered the child across a 12-foot gap to the terrace of a neighbouring building, where residents safely pulled the infant to safety.

She then helped her 13-year-old and 10-year-old daughters cross over to the neighbouring rooftop using a ladder. Amid the chaos, she also managed to rescue her nephew.

But while trying to save everyone, Archana herself became trapped in the fire and dense smoke. She suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where she later died during treatment. Her 13-year-old daughter also sustained burn injuries and remains under treatment.

Meanwhile, Archana’s sister-in-law suffered a leg fracture after jumping from the rooftop during the rescue attempt.
