A 63-year-old man had filed an extortion complaint with the police in Maharashtra's Nashik. However, a thorough investigation about his blackmailers revealed 121 obscene videos, leading to his arrest for alleged sexual exploitation, the police said.

The accused has been identified as Ravindra Ganpat Erande, who calls himself a journalist and a social activist. The elderly man was arrested last Friday.

Police investigation revealed that Erande allegedly sexually exploited many women and had also shot objectionable videos of them. Previously, the police had arrested four men for allegedly stealing a tablet from the elderly's house in the Satpur area. They also attempted to extort Rs 12 lakh from him by threatening to leak his private photos and videos on social media.

The police recovered four mobile phones, two pen drives, and a memory card. While scanning the item, the investigators found 121 obscene videos of Erande and his friends. Upon conducting a thorough inquiry, the officers found out that Erande used to exploit women by luring them with fake promises. The accused would make false claims of providing government jobs to their children and used to record them in secret.

The videos were stored in the accused's computer in various folders under the names of different women. As of now, eight women have been identified. The statements of women may result in the filing of more serious charges against Erande. Furthermore, the investigators have appealed to women to come forward with their complaints against Erande, assuring them that their identities will be kept confidential.

The case comes weeks after a self-styled godman was arrested under the charges of rape of his devotee. The self-styled godman revealed his modus operandi, how he exploited his devotees, and also fooled them out of money. The findings revealed that Kharak used to practice "vashikaran" and threatened irreversible consequences if people did not follow his instructions.
