New Delhi Assembly Election Result 2025: AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal Defeated In Bastion By BJP's Parvesh Verma

Arvind Kejriwal has lost his re-election bid from the New Delhi Assembly constituency. He has held this seat since 2013, when he defeated Congress stalwart and then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to herald what would be the AAP's decade-long rule of Delhi.

After the completion of the 10 rounds of voting in the New Delhi Constituency, BJP’s Parvesh Verma is leading against AAP's Arvind Kejriwal by a margin of 1,884 votes, as per Election Commission.

"As of now it seems that they (BJP) will form the govt... We raised the issues but I think people thought that we are not going to form the govt - we accept the decision of the people," said Congress candidate from the New Delhi seat, Sandeep Dikshit as quoted by news agency ANI. 

Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, is trailing significantly with just 3,113 votes, according to the Election Commission of India.

In the New Delhi constituency, BJP's Parvesh Verma is leading with 16,903 votes, keeping a margin of 430 votes over AAP's Arvind Kejriwal, who has secured 16,473 votes, after 8 rounds of counting, according to the Election Commission of India. Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit is trailing significantly, with 2,812 votes, lagging behind the frontrunner by 14,091 votes.

BJP leaders gather at the party office as Election Commission trends indicate the party surpassing the majority mark, currently leading in 45 out of 70 seats. Meanwhile, in the New Delhi constituency, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is trailing behind BJP's Parvesh Verma by 238 votes after the seventh round of counting.

In the New Delhi constituency, BJP's Parvesh Verma is leading with 12,388 votes, maintaining a margin of 225 votes over AAP's Arvind Kejriwal. Meanwhile, Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit is almost out of the race with significantly less number of votes.

As BJP leads in 42 seats, Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva said, "If you are dishonest with the public, then the public will give a similar result. Under the leadership of PM Modi, double-engine govt will be formed in Delhi."

BJP supporters have begun celebrating as the party surges ahead of AAP with lead in 42/70 assembly constituencies.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is leading from the New Delhi assembly constituency with 6,442 votes, gaining a margin of 343 votes over his rival, BJP candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh, who is trailing with 6,099 votes. According to the Election Commission of India, the constituency recorded a voter turnout of 56.41 per cent. The outcome of this crucial seat will become clear as the votes are counted.

According to trends by the Election Commission Of India, BJP is leading in six seats and AAP is leading in 2. 

With a narrow margin of 254 votes so far, AAP national convenor and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is leading in the New Delhi assembly constituency against BJP candidate Parvesh Verma as counting continues for the 2025 Delhi assembly election.

In the New Delhi assembly seat, a total of 4,943 votes have been counted so far. BJP's Parvesh Sahib Singh is currently leading with 2,272 votes, while AAP's Arvind Kejriwal trails closely behind with 2,198 votes. Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit has secured 404 votes so far.

Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva offers prayers at Hanuman Temple, Connaught Place as counting for Delhi Election 2025 is underway. As per initial trends of the Election Commission, BJP is leading in 19 seats, AAP in 5 seats.

As Arvind Kejriwal trails behind BJP's Parvesh Verma in the New Delhi constituency, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj expressed confidence in his party's victory while speaking to reporters. He said, "Arvind Kejriwal will become the CM for the fourth time... In most exit polls, AAP has less vote share, because the poor people don't say anything about their vote. They go to polling stations and vote as per their will. The exit polls will be proven wrong as AAP is going to form the govt this time as well..."hi.”

BJP is currently leading in three seats - Sangam Vihar, Vishwas Nagar and Shahdara in the early trends of the Election Commission. 

BJP candidate Parvesh Verma is leading in the crucial New Delhi constituency, ahead of AAP national convenor and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, as well as Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit. Meanwhile, counting continues for all 70 constituencies in the Delhi Assembly elections.

Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva said, "The statements made by Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh yesterday show that they are going to lose... Today, the people of Delhi will decide if they will go with development or corruption. I think the people of Delhi have selected the path of development, and the result will be in our favour..."

Former chief minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal is trailing in the New Delhi assembly constituency, while his rival, BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, leads in the early counting trends.

AAP is aiming for a fourth consecutive term, while the BJP is trying to make a comeback after its last victory in 1998. BJP’s wins would mean an end to a 27-year drought in Delhi. The Congress, once a dominant force in Delhi is looking for a resurgence amid its declining influence.

Counting of votes for Delhi Election 2025 began with the counting of postal ballots. EVMs will be opened at 8.30 am, determining the fate of 699 candidates contesting across 70 constituencies.

A young supporter of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Avyan Tomar reached the residence of Arvind Kejriwal dressed up as him to show support.
