Dularchand Yadav Murder Case: In a major setback for expelled JDU leader and strongman Anant Singh, the Supreme Court on Friday directed him to surrender before December 1 in the Dularchand Yadav murder case. While hearing a petition challenging the bail granted to him by the Patna High Court, the apex court directed the authorities to complete the probe within four months. Earlier, JDU expelled him for his involvement in the anti-party activities during the recently conducted MLC polls.
Anant Singh Directed To Surrender
While cancelling Singh's bail, a bench of Justices MM Sundresh and PV Varale stated that the high court was wrong while issuing bail to the strongman. The bench pointed out that the high court did not consider the nature of the offence and Singh's past track record while granting him the relief. Singh is accused in the murder case of Dularchand Yadav, who was campaigning for Jan Suraaj's candidate during the assembly election in Bihar.
Back-To-Back Setbacks
Earlier, JDU expelled Singh following his aggressive remarks against the party's Patna Graduates' candidate, Neeraj Kumar, in the MLC polls. He also campaigned for the rival candidate of Jan Suraaj and pledged to defeat Kumar; however, the JDU candidate managed to retain the seat. His remarks were not appreciated by the top brass, as he was expelled from JDU for six years.

Apart from this, the party also asked the assembly administration to cancel his membership, leading to possibilities of a fresh poll in Mokama constituency.
With uncertainty looming over his MLA post and the Supreme Court's order, the crisis for Anant Singh is likely to deepen in the coming weeks. Earlier, Singh's wife was elected as an MLA from Mokama in the 2020 assembly polls; however, he contested the 2025 polls after getting relief in the previous cases.
