Andhra Pradesh Weather: Amid the ongoing heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of a moderate risk of flash flood in several regions of Andhra Pradesh. As per the weather department, at least 10 districts are expected to witness moderate to very heavy rainfall on Thursday. Along with rain, these regions are also likely to witness thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning.
Heavy Rain Likely In These Districts
The weather department has issued a heavy to very heavy rain alert for several districts, including Parvathipuram, Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, and Eluru. Apart from this, other districts, such as Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Krishna, Guntur, and Bapatla, are expected to witness moderate rainfall.
The IMD has also issued flash flood risk for multiple regions, including Srikakulam, Parvathipuram, Manyam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Guntur, Palnadu, NTR, and Alluri Sitharama Raju. The regional administration has been advised to monitor the situation and take necessary steps to avoid any inconveniences. Apart from this, the residents have also been advised to follow the guidelines.
IMD Warns Of Flash Floods
In its advisory, the IMD stated that a weather system over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression earlier on Monday evening. It is further likely to strengthen in the coming two days before crossing the north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coast.
"The well-marked low-pressure area over the west-central and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards, intensified into a depression and lay centred at 5.30pm on Monday over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal," the IMD said.
The fishermen of all the coastal districts have been advised to follow the guidelines and limit their financial activities during the rain activities. Along with Andhra Pradesh, several other states, including West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar are also set to witness similar weather conditions in the coming days.
