Andhra Pradesh: A 20-year-old engineering student allegedly died by suicide on Friday morning after jumping from the sixth floor of a campus building at Marwadi University in Rajkot. The incident comes just six days after a female student of the same university committed suicide by jumping from the hostel building.
Following the incident, a confrontation broke out between police personnel and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers on campus. The Kuvadava police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

Andhra Student Dies By Suicide
In the latest case, the deceased student, identified as Hemnath (also spelled Hemanth), was a native of Andhra Pradesh and a fifth-semester student of Computer Science and Engineering, specialising in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Hetal Patel, Hemnath was distressed about his health. He had undergone a few surgeries recently and had confided in his hostel roommate that if his medical issues persisted, he wanted to die. Police said that no suicide note was recovered from the scene.
Second Incident In A Week
This marks the second student death at the Rajkot institution in less than a week, with both cases involving students from Andhra Pradesh.
On September 19, Alla Venkata Soubhagya Varshitha (also identified as Soubharnika), a 19-year-old third-semester student from Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, died after jumping from the 10th floor of the girls' hostel building. She was enrolled in the Computer Engineering program with a specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
While no suicide note was found at the scene, university officials said that she was on a phone call shortly before the incident. Authorities have seized her mobile phone and are analysing call records to determine the exact sequence of events.
