In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend with a pair of scissors in a hotel room near Assam's Rangia railway station on Sunday. Following the murder, he attempted to commit suicide. The victim has been identified as Malini Guriya (23), who was originally from Hugrajuli in Sonitpur district.
During interrogation, the accused, Abhijit Kindo, said that he killed the woman out of suspicion that she was cheating on him.
What Happened On That Day?
The victim, accompanied by two other women, reached Rangia a night before the incident. Kindo had gone to receive them at the railway station, the police said.

While questioning, the accused claimed that he had planned the murder before the meeting. "She was cheating, she was talking to others, and I had planned the murder even before she arrived," he said and admitted to having killed the woman with scissors. However, he did not say anything about attempting suicide.
The two stayed at the same hotel in adjacent rooms. Later, Kindo shifted to Malini’s room, following which the latter was killed. Police detained the accused in the same room.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a forensic team from Guwahati arrived at the scene to collect evidence. Police took custody of the body and sent it to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The family members of the deceased have been informed.
Case Registered
The police have registered a murder case against the accused and have begun an investigation. Police officials say that based on the accused's statements, a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the exact motive and sequence of events leading up to the murder.
