Bihar Flood Update: The number of flood-affected people in Bihar has now crossed 47 lakhs across the 15 districts as the water level continues to rise in the prominent rivers. As per the administration, 88 blocks and 561 panchayats of Bihar have been affected so far due to the flood. The floodwater has isolated several villages along the riverside, leading to inconveniences to the locals.
Bihar Flood: THESE Districts Affected
The most affected districts are the capital city Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Patna, Vaishali, Saran, Begusarai, Munger, Katihar, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Madhepura, Samastipur, and Arwal. Apart from this, the administration of Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar have also been asked to stay alert amid the rising water levels.
River Water Level Rises
The number of community kitchens for flood-affected people has been increased to 1,194 to ensure two meals per day for the locals. Amid the continuous rise in water level in the known rivers such as the Ganga, Kosi, and Gandak, the Disaster Management Department has further been asked to increase the number of community kitchens.

The administration has also been making food arrangements for thousands of livestock affected due to the floods. The Dairy, Animal, and Fisheries Resources Department has been instructed to ensure a continuous supply of fodder and medicine in the flood-affected areas. Apart from this, veterinary teams have also been asked to monitor the situation.
District Admin Asked To Stay Updated
The district administration and health department have also been asked to maintain adequate stock of essential medicines and send medical teams to the vulnerable regions. Earlier this week, leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly Tejashwi Yadav visited the affected areas in Vaishali and urged the government to intensify the rescue efforts.
Necessary Steps Being Taken: CM Samrat
Apart from this, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, while addressing the reporters, assured that the necessary steps are being taken to minimize the damage. The southern districts are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall in the next two to three days, potentially worsening the situation.
